About Midi Mae

Owner & Stylist

Meet Hannah Mae

Hiii!! I’m Hannah Mae, and I'm so happy you're here!

I can’t say anything without first publicly thanking the Lord for His abundant mercy and grace in my life. It is because of {HIM} that this small business even exists and I am so blessed to be saved, loved, and forgiven by The Father!

I am 32 years old and I was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. If you stick around long enough, you will find that while I do in fact still live in the mountains, my happy place is the beach! Any beach! As long as my toes are in the sand and I can hear ocean waves in the background I am satisfied.

This small business was born out of a season of grief from the passing of my sweet mom. After she died, I prayed for my joy to be restored. Even though I knew my heart would continue to hurt from not having her here, I still prayed to have joy again… and creating Midi Mae has been a small result of that prayer!

With this new adventure, I am most excited about meeting new friends and interacting with everyone on a platform that not only helps enhance your wardrobe but encourages you to spread kindness everywhere you go!

I can't wait to connect with YOU! I can’t wait to see your pictures and hear your thoughts on all things fashion, life, Jesus, and spreading kindness on a daily basis.

Welcome to Midi Mae!

-Hannah

Fun Facts

I got my first job

at 13 working for my mom at the Hallmark Store she owned. I wouldn't say I was the best employee (mom spoiled me and would let me come and go as I pleased) but I loved the time I spent with her there. I worked there through college when my parents sold it.

I can't have

caffeine after lunch if I want to get any sleep that night. I am highly effected by it, but I LOVE a large dr. pepper and can run in high-gear all day from just one!

I have been playing

The piano since I was 7 years old. My Mamaw was the first to teach me, then later I was able to pick up on how she corded the songs and have been playing in church ever since.

The Story Behind the Name "Midi Mae"

“WHERE ARE THE MIDI’S?!” I screamed with frustration in the middle of the department store! My mom, who had entered a state of deliriousness after walking the entire mall that day began to laugh uncontrollably as she lingered behind my quick paced walk. We were running out of time, we were hungry, and we were having NO luck on finding a dress for the upcoming wedding we were set to attend.

The Beth Challenge

Beth was my mom. My beautiful, kind, giving, loving, supportive, caring mom.

The true love of Jesus shined through her, and she lived her life spreading {HIS} love to everyone she met.

She died in May 2021 after a 2 year battle with colon cancer.

It is my heart's desire to be just like her. She was the best example of a wife, mother, and friend.

I hope you'll join me in the challenge.

My talented cousin

Meet the Photographer

“For $5 I’ll drop this towel” my cousin Lauren joked, pretending to talk to bypassers on the street as I stood naked in between the car doors of her Subaru.

We were parked on a little side road in downtown Charleston and for the sake of time I was frantically changing outfits behind a beach towel she was holding up, while my other cousin Bethany (Lauren’s sister) worked out of the back hatch to pair jewelry and accessories with what I was putting on. While I was tying the bow on the perfectly palm wrap dress, Lauren was putting earrings in my ear. Her car was the rolling dressing room for the short 24 hours we were in Charleston to shoot the first ever launch of Midi Mae.

We had arrived in Charleston on Friday afternoon but shortly after we got there dark clouds rolled in and rain poured from the sky the rest of the night.
